****WARNING: The Eklutna Canyon drainage is private property
belonging to Eklutna Incorporated and their website indicates ice climbing is
not allowed on their property. It is strongly suggested that before
venturing into the canyon, check with the climbing groups within the community
regarding the current access status for the canyon.****
**Notice** Alaska State Parks require vehicles parking in the Thunderbird
Falls Trailhead parking lot to have a current Alaska State Parks parking
pass.
Approach: Head upriver and make a crossing in shallow water after Mad
Dog. This route rarely forms on the right side of the canyon.
Route: Depending on conditions, this climb can have a nice short curtain
at the top which poses the crux of the route. In most years, this climb
comes in very thin conditions making it a risky proposition for a lead.
Anchor: Solid trees exist at the top of this route for an anchor and
rappel.
