Knik River

The Knik River area is quickly becoming one of the more popular spots for south central Alaskan climbers because of the short driving distance and relatively easy approaches.  Areas like Hunter Creek with its high concentration of climbs is attracting more and more people.  Most areas exist on the south side of the river.  However, more is being learned on areas to the north of the river like Friday Creek.

Head north from Anchorage on the Glenn Highway and drive through the town of Eklutna.  Shortly afterwards, exit at the Old Glenn Highway and head east along the river.  The climbs are either located along this road or on the Knik River road which is past the Knik River bridge on the Old Glenn.
